rsstou | 12:48 | 0 comments

The P1 design study for a modern day F1 may be all the talk these days, but McLaren has another new model up its sleeves, one that will be unveiled during the Singapore Grand Prix this weekend.

The new car is the limited run MP4-12C "SGP Edition", of which only three examples will be built, each carrying a price tag of S$1.28 million or about US$1.05 million / €800,000. While that may sound like a lot of cash, the folks over at TeamSpeed reported that two cars have already been spoken for leaving only one up for grabs.

New McLaren P1 Hypercar Design Study Reveals F1's Replacement, What do you Think?

rsstou | 09:02 | 0 comments

It’s been a long wait but after countless spy shots and teaser images, McLaren Automotive has finally taken the covers off the new design study named P1 less than two weeks before it makes its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show.

Previously referred to as the P12, the new P1 is essentially a pre-production version of the model that will succeed the famed F1. McLaren said that it would unwrap the final design next year and have it on sale within 12 months.

"The McLaren P1 will be the result of 50 years of racing and road car heritage," says McLaren Automotive Executive Chairman Ron Dennis. "Twenty years ago we said the supercar performance bar with the McLaren F1 and our goal with the McLaren P1 is to redefine it once again."

Apparently, McLaren wants to keep us on our toes as it prepares for the presentation of a new model, which we believe to be the famed F1's successor either in concept or (less likely) final production form, at the Paris Motor Show on September 27.

The new teaser video and photos released by McLaren outline the shape of the car through a lightshow, providing some fresh details compared to the initial press image circulated around the internet earlier this month.

McLaren Teases New Paris Show-Bound Supercar; Could it be a Concept for the F1 Replacement?

What you see above is a car. More specifically, it is the first teaser image of McLaren’s new supercar, which will be unveiled at the upcoming Paris Motor Show.

If it is the successor to the iconic F1 (perhaps in concept form), as the rumor mill suggests, then it is being revealed at least a year earlier than originally expected. It could be because company boss Ron Dennis, who is famous (or shall we say notorious) for his perfectionism wanted its launch to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the F1.

Formula 1: Belgian Grand Prix Race Report

rsstou | 12:33 | 0 comments

After the summer break, the Formula 1 season resumed this weekend. The Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium is one of the most interesting tracks in the calendar, with its famous Eau Rouge corner shorting out the boys from the men.

Two of the title contesters, however, never had the chance to go so far in Sunday’s race. In fact, they retired at the very first corner. Lewis Hamilton’s McLaren and Romain Grosjean’s Lotus collided, and the later hit the championship points’ leader, Fernando Alonso, marking the Ferrari driver's first retirement this year.

R&T Pits Corvette ZR1 Against Ferrari 458 Italia and McLaren MP4-12C in a V8 Showdown

rsstou | 16:28 | 0 comments

The Corvette is one of the longest standing nameplates in the sports car world with a history that spans seven decades across six generations of models.

The current iteration of the Corvette (C6) has been in production since 2004 (as a 2005 model) and will soon be replaced by an all-new version set to appear at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show next January with sales to follow later in the year.

The pinnacle of the series, the ZR1, is the fastest and most expensive (at $112,600) production Corvette ever, but how does it compare against two of the newest and most capable V8-powered supercars in the world, the Ferrari 458 Italia and the McLaren MP4-12C?

Mercedes McLaren Sports Cars ASMA Design Perfectus SLR 722

ASMA Design have modded the Mercedes-Benz McLaren sports cars SLR 722 to their specifications. The new ASMA Design Perfectus SLR 722 is totally redone with new aggressive custom carbon fibre bodywork and 20-inch wheels.
Mercedes McLaren Sports Cars ASMA Design Perfectus SLR 722
The original SLR only made 650-hp from the 5.4-litre supercharged V8, but this was not enough for ASMA Design, as they have upped the power to 750-hp, and this allows the ASMA Design Perfectus SLR to get from 0-100km/h in only 3.5 seconds, and then go onto a top speed of 216mph.
Making claims of perfection is a dangerous thing to do, especially in the exclusive and demanding world of supercar tuning. But there is one man who can actually make this claim of perfection, and even go as far as to name his incredible automotive creation Perfectus. And this Designer is Erturul ASMA and this is his amazing, all carbon fiber ASMA Mercedes McLaren SLR 722.
Carbon is the customizing material of choice for hardcore tuners alike, but until the unveiling of Perfectus, no-one had truly used this most beautiful and powerful material to its full and awe-inspiring effect. But, as these stunning pictures can only prove, Erturul ASMA has taken the McLaren to entirely new levels of automotive theatre. In fact, thanks to Perfectus, you can forget about the world of top-end tuning here on Earth, and now, and only now, think in terms of an awesome new age of carbon customization.
Wide arch at over 2-metres in total width, with over 10cms of super-phat and super-sculpted carbon over each of the one-off ASMA rims, rims that are also mind-blowing in their dimensions. How does 325-25-20 out the back and 255-30-20 up front grab you? Hard! And once this stunning carbon design grabs you, it will never let you go.
The wide ‘n’ wild completely custom carbon fiber bodywork is simply unmatched and unbeatable, anywhere in the world. Sharp, extra-aggressive F1-inspired bodylines take this SLR to whole new levels of road-presence; this SLR is always in full attack mode, making 700hp to back-up the ASMA Design styling.
Only Erturul ASMA can make and prove his claims of perfection, but he must also apologize… apologize to all the owners of standard SLRs everywhere, for there can be only one Perfectus.
