Most men, regardless of age, are influenced one way or the other by their fathers, especially when it comes to cars. Wendell and Patrick Burns are no different with both sharing a particular passion for the BMW 2002 coupe.

Frazer Spowart, a Vimeo producer, has filmed a video dedicated to the Burns' love for the classic 1970s BMW model for his new online series called "Cars I See".

Scoop: BMW 4-Series GranCoupe is the Sportier Looking Alter-Ego of the 3-Series Sedan and GT

You would think that, with the already launched 3-Series sedan and Touring (estate / station wagon) and the upcoming 4-Series Coupe and Convertible, and 3-Series Gran Turismo (GT for short), BMW would be done with its 3- and 4-Series range lineup.

Well, that's not the case as the ever-expanding Bavarian carmaker is plotting one more body style for its most popular model range, the 4-Series Gran Coupe.

Think of it as a smaller, 3-Series based iteration of the larger and more expensive 6-Series Gran Coupe that is a hybrid between the 6-Series Coupe and the 5-Series Sedan.

We won't blame you if you confuse the appearance of the prototypes of the 3-Series GT with the 4-Series Gran Coupe, but if you take a closer look and compare the test cars we have spied in the past, you will see that the Gran Coupe has a lower and more slanted roofline, along with a longer trunk.

TMCars Says it Can Turn Your BMW 3-Series E30 Coupe Into This with a Body Kit

What if the Confederacy had won the Civil War, Superman had been raised in the Soviet Union instead of the US, Adolf Hitler had never been born or JFK hadn’t been assassinated and so on?

This is the alternative or alternate history, the “what if” premise, which has been quite popular in both historical and science fiction genres.

In a similar fashion, what would have happened to the 3-Series' styling if BMW had constantly evolved the shape of the E30 (produced between 1982-1990, though some body styles continued for a few more years) and hadn't moved on with the E36 and its successors?

This is a question posed by the people at Hungary's TMCars design. The answer they came up with is the TM concept30, named after the E30 3-Series that is celebrating its 30th birthday this year.

Interestingly, the concept30 is much more than a pure study as TMCars imagined it as a styling kit that can transform the appearance of any E30 3-Series, many examples of which remain in use today.

Scoop: Best Spy Shots Yet of New BMW 3-Series GT

rsstou | 07:17 | 0 comments

After snooping around in Germany, our spies were able to snag some photos that offer us our best look to date at the upcoming BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo or GT for short.

The prototype has dropped all of its heavy camouflage affording us a much clearer view of the car that will soon become the third addition to the sixth generation of the 3-Series after the F30 sedan and Touring.

This is the first new body style to be added to BMW's highly successful 3-Series range since the "Compact" of the 1990s, which was a three-door hatchback.

The 3 GT is a life-style orientated model sporting a five-door liftback body and a longer wheelbase than the sedan for improved passenger space.

The shape of the car is far less awkward and more elegant than the larger and taller 5-Series GT, though it doesn't appear to be as sporty looking as its chief rival, the Audi A5 Sportback.
