New Cadillac ATS Heads to Paris Motor Show, European Sales to Start in October

The all-new 2013 ATS premium compact sedan will be taking the spotlight on Cadillac’s stand at the upcoming Paris Motor Show as the automaker prepares for its European launch with sales to begin in October and customer deliveries in December.

While the ATS is offered in the States with three petrol engine options including a 200hp 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, a 270hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four and a 320hp 3.6-liter V6, Cadillac's European release only mentions the 2.0L Turbo that can accelerate the rear-wheel drive sedan from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in 5.9 seconds.

Software Glitch Causes Delays in Deliveries of Certain 2012-2013 GM Models Including Cadillac ATS

General Motors may have increased its US sales in August by 10 percent compared to the same month in 2011, but last Wednesday it notified its dealers to stop deliveries of some of its most popular models.

The reason is a software glitch on the OnStar communication system that affects the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze, Equinox and Volt, the Cadillac ATS, SRX and XTS, the Buick Verano plus the GMC Terrain.

GM spokesman Alan Adler said that the issue has been identified as the system failing to alert the OnStar call center in an accident that the vehicle’s airbags are not deployed, like a rear-end collision.

Cadillac Announces Livery, Limousine and Funeral Coach Editions of New 2013 XTS

The GM Fleet & Commercial Division revealed three new versions of the Cadillac XTS. Mind you, they are not “special” editions, but livery, limousine and funeral coach - aka hearse, variants of Cadillac's luxury saloon.

The livery variant of the XTS is powered by a 300 HP 3.6-liter V6 coupled to a six-speed transmission and it returns 17 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.

For the interior design, Inside the XTS places a heavy emphasis on technology and design, including the luxury division's new Cadillac User Experience, or CUE for short. The CUE system includes an eight-inch screen in the center stack, a 12.3-inch reconfigurable gauge cluster and a unique touchscreen interface that mimics today's tablets. Other technologies available on the XTS include Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control and a color Head-up display.

For the Exterior of 2013 Cadillac xts, The power for the XTS is provided by a direct-injection 3.6L V6 delivering 300 horsepower. Shifting duties are handled by a six-speed automatic, which routes power to the front wheels on the base model, or up to all four wheels via a Haldex all-wheel-drive system with electronically controlled limited-slip differential on the higher trim levels. Although the previous DTS was known strictly as a boulevard cruiser, the XTS should be able to hold its own in the corners thanks to GM's Magnetic Ride Control, a rear air suspension, HiPer Strut front suspension and Brembo brakes. Standard wheels measure 19-inches but 20s are also on offer.

    CTS-V includes sophisticated braking and tire systems, in partnership with two companies renowned for high-performance technology: Brembo and Michelin. Brembo brakes are at all four corners and include powerful, six-piston calipers in the front and four-piston calipers in the rear. Large vented rotors enable strong initial braking force while optimizing heat resistance and eliminating fade. The brake rotors from Brembo employ a “dual-cast” technology that combines cast iron and aluminum, resulting in excellent performance and weight reduction. CTS-V also includes an electric parking brake, enabling more legroom for the driver, key for high-performance driving Michelin partnered with Cadillac engineers to develop its acclaimed Pilot Sport PS2 summer tire for CTS-V and its exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels. The tires support high levels of grip in track conditions, while also affording good performance on the road.

    The CTS-V Coupe employs the LSA 6.2L supercharged V-8 engine also found on the CTS-V Sport Sedan. Rated at 556 horsepower (415 kW) and 551 lb.-ft. of torque (747 Nm), it is the most powerful engine offered in Cadillac’s history and propels the CTS-V Coupe from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds.
