Yes, Someone Tried to Turn a Porsche Boxster in Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster

The only sane reason we can think of why someone would take a Porsche Boxster and attempt a crude recreation of a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster is that the owner had a heavily damaged example of the Stuttgart-based carmaker's mid-engine model lying around and decided to get mechanically and cosmetically creative – or so to speak.

Regardless the reason that gave birth to the idea, the project remains unfinished despite changing several hands (we wonder why….). The person selling the car on eBay states that he was offered the Murcielago-stein as part of a trade deal.

Volkswagen Plant Begins Partial Production of Porsche Boxster

Common perception has it that all Porsches are manufactured in Germany. Yet the first- and second-generation of the Boxster roadster were assembled in Finland by Valmet, as was the Boxster-based Cayman coupe.

In 2011, Porsche terminated this deal and transferred production to Germany. Initially, the Boxster was manufactured at the carmaker’s main plant in Zuffenhausen alongside the 911.

German tuner SpeedArt is the first company to release a tuning program for the brand new Porsche Boxster S (981), called Porsche Sport Cars speedART Boxster SP81-R. The Porsche Boxster is the car that saved Stuttgart from the brink when it was launched. Yet they have moved further than ever before with from the affordable and simple sportscar that it once was. Th 2012 model is lower, wider and much longer, and the Boxster S will reach 100 km/h in just 5 seconds despite only having just over 300 horsepower. The third generation Porsche Boxster has exited speedART's garage after it received a mild makeover and a small power boost.
Based on the Porsche Boxster (981), the model features an aerodynamic body kit with a front spoiler, revised side skirts, a rear diffuser and a prominent wing. Porsche Sport Cars speedART Boxster SP81-R can also be equipped with 20- and 21-inch LSC forged alloy wheels. The SP81-R Boxsters sit lower on their sport tuned suspensions, height adjustable absorbers and stiff coils. Still, an airlift suspension is also provided in other to tackle even the beefiest of speed humps.

This, combined with an ECU remap, has increased power of the 981 models by 20hp and 15lb-ft of torque. The brand new 981 Boxster's 2.7-liter flat-six thus manages 285hp and 221lb-ft of torque; while the Boxster S is good for 335hp and 281lb-ft. The sport exhaust with sound switch is developed for individual sound control and can be combined with various tailpipe designs including different ultra-light Titanium sport exhaust systems.
These have been designed for street and race track use and include an adjustable sport suspension and an airlift suspension. Inside a newly designed interior utilizes leather and Alcantara.

Porsche is introducing a new top version of the Porsche Boxster, a light mid-engined roadster making its world debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show in December. Weighing just 1,275 kg or 2,811 lb, the 2010 Porsche Boxster Spyder is the lightest model throughout the entire range of Porsche cars. Clearly recognisable right from the start, this new mid-engined roadster represents the true, purist form of the Porsche sports car – light, powerful, consistently open, and very efficient.This new mid-engined roadster represents the true, purist form of the sports car – agile, powerful, open and efficient. 2010 Porsche Boxster Spyder Sports Car

The newest member of the Boxster family stands out from the other versions of Porsche's mid-engined roadster. Its low-slung, lightweight soft top – when closed – extends far to the rear to protect the driver and passenger from bright sunshine, wind and weather. This top, when combined with extra-low side windows and two striking bulges on the single-piece rear lid, provides the Boxster Spyder with a sleek silhouette reminiscent of the Carrera GT.

The Boxster Spyder features a 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine with Direct Fuel Injection upfront of the rear axle. Maximum output is 320 horsepower (hp), 10 hp more than the Boxster S. The Porsche Boxster Spyder accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. The Porsche Boxster Spyder top speed, in turn, is 267 km/h or 166 mph – with the roof open.The combination of 10 more hp and 176 pounds less weight than the award-winning Boxster S, plus an all-new sport suspension that lowers the Boxster Spyder 20 mm, a lower center of gravity, a standard limited slip differential, and exclusive wheels provides the kind of driving dynamics that back up the unique look. Aluminum door skins and lightweight interior door panels from the 911 GT3 RS contribute to the weight reduction.
Fundamentally, the entire Boxster family is the successor to the legendary 550 Spyder and RS 60 of the Fifties and Sixties, all sharing the same mid-engine roadster concept. Low weight and supreme agility combine to provide outstanding driving pleasure.

Including 19 per cent VAT and national specifications, the market price of the new Porsche Boxster Spyder is 63,404 Euro.Boxster Spyder is a regular, but specially developed and upgraded production model as compared with the Boxster and Boxster S.
