New 2014 Kia Forte / K3 / Cerato Detailed Inside and Out in New Photo Gallery and Videos

rsstou | 16:58 | 0 comments

While Kia surely got its act together in terms of designing, engineering and building vehicles over the past decade or so, the South Korean automaker seems a bit confused when it comes to naming its vehicles.

How else can you explain the fact that its new global compact sedan will have three different names, depending on the region?

In its home market of South Korea, where it was officially introduced this week, it will be called K3, while when it arrives in the U.S. and Canada, we will come to know it as the 2014 model year Forte, and in other markets such as Australia and Brazil, as the new Cerato.

Whatever it is called, the new compact model has adopted the brand's latest design DNA both inside and out, while offering a raft of new technologies such as a parking assistance system, LED headlamps and Kia's next generation “telematics” service UVO, which enables drivers to control their cars via a smartphone or other IT devices.

The new generation of the more practical A3 Sportback, which was revealed online on Wednesday, will be joined by the spanking new S3 at Audi's Paris Motor Show stand next week.

The performance model of Audi's MQB platform-based compact hatchback is lighter and more powerful than the model it replaces. It is scheduled to go on sale in Europe early next year with a starting price of €38,900 (US$50,500) in Germany.

At the heart of the car lies a newly developed 2.0-liter TFSI direct-injection and turbocharged gasoline engine that belongs to the EA888 engine family.

The new powerplant weighs around five kilograms (11 pounds) less than the previous EA113 2.0 TFSI and is also much more powerful delivering 296Hp (300PS) at 5,500 rpm and 380 Nm (280.27 lb-ft) of torque between 1,800 and 5,500 rpm, an increase of 35Hp and 30Nm respectively. Now, Japan’s biggest carmaker has shed more light on the latest iteration of what it claims to be the most popular C-segment model series (including the Corolla nameplate) in the world, having sold 39 million units in more than 140 countries since the introduction of the Corolla in 1966.

2013 Toyota Verso Compact MPV Facelift Sports More Revisions Than You Think

rsstou | 18:26 | 0 comments

If you take a quick look through our image gallery of the 2013 Toyota Verso, you will be forgiven to think that the only differentiating factor between the facelifted and the outgoing model is the sharper design of the minivan's front end that has been brought in line with the revamped Auris, Yaris and Avensis models.

The truth is, though, that Toyota has actually changed 470 parts on the 2013 model year Verso and claims that it represents "a comprehensive mid-lifecycle model upgrade".

Beginning with the exterior cosmetic tweaks, the biggest change is up front with the newly styled bumper, fenders, grille and headlamps that now incorporate LED daytime running lights.

Upon closer inspection, you may notice the smaller foldable door mirrors featuring integrated turn signal lights, a choice of two new alloy wheels, while to the rear, there's a new bumper design that houses an integral low level diffuser and different colors for the tail lamp clusters.

Aston Martin Plays the 'Can You Spot the Differences' Game with 2013 DB9 Facelift

rsstou | 16:51 | 0 comments

You can rest assure that when Aston Martin presents a new model – let alone a facelift of an existing vehicle, you will have a very hard time telling the differences from their predecessors, which is the obviously the case with the refreshed 2013 DB9 in both Coupe and Volante (convertible) body styles.

According to the British automaker, the styling changes on the DB9 are "reminiscent of the outgoing Virage, which ceases production with immediate effect". We will remind you that the Virage was presented last year to close the invisible gap between the DB9 and the DBS, which has now itself been replaced by the new Vanquish.

We will start our tour of the 2013 DB9 with the exterior makeover that includes a redesigned hood, front grille surround and bumper, new front fender air vents, a new design for the rear bumper and the boot that incorporates a much more pronounced spoiler lip to improve aerodynamics.

rsstou | 15:39 | 0 comments

The first official images and details of the new Volvo V40 Cross Country have dripped on the web revealing the Swedish carmaker's smallest crossover model.

Originally thought to be named XC40, the new Volvo is a taller standing and more rugged looking version of the brand's V40 compact hatchback, designed more or less around the same philosophy as the larger XC70.

The halfway (if not even less...) crossover model from Volvo gets some chunky black cladding around the redesigned front and rear bumpers that also feature silver colored protective plates, and side sills, along with silver roof rails, newly styled alloy wheels and a 40mm taller ride height than the regular V40.

Jeep to Display Special Edition Versions of Grand Cherokee, Wrangler and Compass in Paris

rsstou | 11:16 | 0 comments

In view of the lack of any new production or concept models, Jeep's stand at this year's Paris Motor Show will be occupied by the European premieres of three special edition versions, all of which have already been presented in North America.

The most impressive of the three is no doubt the Grand Cherokee SRT Limited Edition available exclusively in a Bright White finish with blacked-out exterior details and Gloss-Black and chromed 20-inch alloy wheels.

MINI Officially Reveals New Paceman Three-Door Crossover [114 Photos]

rsstou | 16:24 | 0 comments

Its revelation time for MINI and its brand-new Paceman series, which will make its grand premiere at the Paris Motor Show at the end of September before it goes on sale worldwide next spring.

Originally previewed by the Paceman Concept at the 2011 Detroit Motor Show, the newest addition to MINI's growing (both in numbers and in…size) range of vehicles is billed as a coupé interpretation of the Countryman crossover.

From bumper to bumper, the Paceman measures 4,109mm (161.7-inches) or in the case of the sported-up Cooper S and Cooper SD variants, 4,115mm (162-inches), making it 24mm shorter than the Countryman.

It has a 31mm lower roof height and sits 10mn closer to the ground compared to the Countryman with which it shares the same width.

The styling up to the A-pillar is identical to the five-door model, but the Paceman gains a more rakish roofline, longer front doors, muscular rear fenders and a completely new rear end highlighted by a redesigned set of tail lamps that all work together to offer a sportier appearance.

New BMW Active Tourer Concept Previews the FWD 1-Series Gran Turismo [84 Photos & Videos]

rsstou | 15:06 | 0 comments

These first official images of BMW's new Active Tourer Concept confirm our suspicions that the photo sourced from the cover of the next issue of Auto Bild magazine that we shared with you earlier today, did indeed show the real thing.

To answer the first question you are most likely to have about the Paris Motor Show-bound Active Tourer study, yes, it is intended for production - likely as a 1-Series model with the Gran Turismo moniker that is used by BMW on its more practical vehicles. One of its more direct rivals will be the Mercedes-Benz B-Class small MPV.

But that's not what makes the Active Tourer Concept really special, what does is its platform that will be shared with the next generation of Mini-branded cars and BMW's decision to break with tradition and enter the realm of front-wheel drive models.

New Photos and Details of Peugeot's Onyx Supercar Concept, gets a 680HP V8 Diesel-Hybrid Powertrain

rsstou | 13:48 | 0 comments

Set to be one of the most impressive concepts at this year's edition of the Paris Motor Show, the Onyx is Peugeot's vision of what a 21st century supercar should be.

The concept's sharply styled body features wings and doors that are handmade from pure copper sheet, and whose appearance Peugeot says will change over time gaining a patina, while the other panels are from carbon fibre painted matte black.

The Onyx incorporates some design references to the RCZ such as the ‘double-bubble’ roof and aluminium arches, but overall, it's a unique looking model.

"The silhouette of the Onyx is sculpted softly, sensuously, but it is also alive and technological," explains Sandeep Bhambra, Onyx Exterior Stylist. "From the first sketches I wanted to create a showcase for technological excellence and craftsmanship by combining elements demonstrating high aerodynamic performance, Black Diamond lamps and copper bodywork panels fashioned by hand."

All-New 2013 SRT Viper Priced from $97,395*, Some $15,000 Less than Corvette ZR1 [Mega Gallery]

rsstou | 14:50 | 0 comments

We know many of you have been waiting to learn how much the spanking-new 2013 SRT Viper will cost ever since it broke cover at the New York Auto Show earlier this year.

The good news is that the Viper carries a starting MSRP of more than $15,000 lower than that of GM's rivaling Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. As always, the bad news is that at $97,395 excluding a $1,995 destination fee (*), which lifts the total to $99,390, most [of us] cannot afford it...

Aside from the base model, there's also the Viper GTS priced at $120,395 (excluding $1,995 destination).

This version spices up the snake with several goodies such as a two-mode active suspension and six-spoke forged-aluminum “Venom” rims, while keeping the same 8.4-liter V10 engine that delivers 640 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque to the rear wheels via a 6speed manual gearbox.

Audi Blows the Top Off the New RS5 Cabriolet [Photos and Video]

rsstou | 05:53 | 0 comments

Another Paris Auto Show attendee has been revealed today in the form of the all-new Audi RS5 Cabriolet.

As the open-top version of the RS5 Coupe, the Cabriolet gets the same suite of performance and mechanical upgrades including a 4.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine that generates 444hp (450PS) at 8,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 430Nm (318 lb-ft) between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm.

The V8 is hooked up to a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission and Audi's quattro permanent all-wheel drive system, which under normal driving conditions, distributes torque between the front and rear axles at a 40:60 ratio, but if necessary, it can direct up to 70 percent to the front or a maximum of 85 percent to the rear.

Being heavier than the RS5 Coupe, the Cabriolet variant is slightly slower completing the 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint in 4.9 seconds (vs. 4.5 sec), while top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h (155mph), though Audi can boost this to 280 km/h (174 mph) upon request.

With the Paris Motor Show just around the corner, MINI is now ready to share those details with us.

First Photos of Three-Door 2013 Volkswagen Golf, Configurator Goes Online

rsstou | 09:16 | 0 comments

We knew that it was only a matter of time before Volkswagen would launch an online configurator for the all-new 2013 Golf Mk7 on its German website after the introduction of the car in Berlin on Tuesday, but what we weren't expecting to see were the first images (CGIs, to be precise) of the three-door variant.

Leaving aside the absence of the rear- and the longer front-doors, there aren't any other cosmetic changes to the body of the three-door hatchback, which is something that we anticipated since VW is covering the sportier compact segment with the Scirocco.
